7 Top Spots for a DFW Staycation During Spring Break

One of the best things about living in Dallas / Fort Worth is that you can never run out of new things to see and discover. What better time to do that than with a DFW staycation during Spring Break 2018? The awesome thing about a staycation is that you save money on airfare and hotels. Here are 7 DFW Spring Break ideas. You can also save this list for when you need ideas for a weekend or a day off.

  1.  Science Museums

DFW is lucky to have two incredible science museums. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History (1600 Gendy St., Fort Worth, TX 76107) has more than 150,000 scientific and historical objects to explore. For those who want to take a trip to space into the solar system, they can do that at the on-site planetarium. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science (2201 N. Field St., Dallas, Texas 75201) features 11 permanent exhibits with hands-on activities, videos, demonstrations, and immersive 2D and 3D films.

  1.  Professional Sports

The NBA's Dallas Mavericks and the NHL's Dallas Stars play during this time of the year. Turn it into a weekend and stay at a hotel near American Airlines Center where both teams play. You can also take advantage of all that downtown has to offer. Opening day for the Texas Rangers and Major League Baseball is in late March, so it's a little late for DFW spring break. But it'd make a great staycation weekend. You could do Six Flags and catch a game. Speaking of Six Flags.

  1.  Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags Over Texas (2201 Road to Six Flags, Arlington, Texas 76011) amusement park is open every day for spring break and on weekends. They have roller coasters, live entertainment, a variety of food options, family rides, and shopping. With many things to see and do, it's easy to spend the day there. Check the Six Flags Over Texas website to see the park schedule, available rides by age, and show performances.

  1.  Escape Rooms

Escape rooms are all over DFW, so you can find one near you or look for one that covers a theme of interest. Most escape rooms offer multiple rooms with different themes and challenge levels. Visit their websites for information. Here's an abridged list of some of the higher-rated escape rooms.

  1.  Experience the Outdoors at the Lakes

You can go boating, canoeing, camping, biking, running, picnicking, and fishing at the lakes around DFW. Visit the lake's website for information on the available amenities and items for rent. Popular lakes in DFW:

  1.  Indoor Rock Climbing

You can climb the walls indoors without dealing with the heat or getting a sunburn. Most rock climbing facilities provide free training. So no Scouting experience or knowledge is necessary. You have a few locations to choose from to find a location that's convenient for you. Check out Canyons Rock Climbing (7164 Technology Dr., Frisco, Texas 75033) Dyno Rock (608 E. Front St., Arlington, Texas 76011) and Summit Gyms (locations in Carrollton Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth, and Grapevine). These are just some of the top highlights of things to do on a DFW staycation. You have many more options depending on your interests. This list barely scratches the surface. Want more ideas? Here you go:
