How to Spend Memorial Day Weekend in Fort Worth

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who died while serving in the armed forces. It also unofficially marks the start of summer. Although Fort Worth ISD schools don't get out until June 1, the holiday weekend gives students a little warm up and a study break for those who have final exams. Here are some Memorial Day events and things to do in Fort Worth to jump-start your summer and honor the fallen. Carry the Load Dallas Memorial March Saturday Amon G. Or follow the West Coast Team that's walking 4,300 miles from Seattle to Dallas. At 3 pm, you can walk with them for four miles while they're in Fort Worth. The relay team walk departs at 6:30 pm from the Fort Worth Police and Firefighters' Memorial at the north end of Trinity Park Pavilion (2201-2247 West 7th Street). The walk ends at Billy Bob's Texas. Exchange Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76164 www.fortworthstockyards.com Summertime in the Stockyards is open every weekend in the summer with extended hours for Memorial Day weekend. The Stockyards schedule includes longhorn cattle drive, legends of Texas gunfights, live music, food trucks, farmers market, and a beer and wine garden. You can play cornhole and horseshoe toss. Stockyards Championship Rodeo Friday – Sunday 121 E. Exchange Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76164 www.stockyardsrodeo.com You can catch the Stockyards Championship Rodeo from Friday through Sunday. At this event, rodeo athletes will do roping, barrel racing, bronco riding, and bull riding. Pawnee Bill's Wild West Show has four start times during the holiday weekend. The show is a historical reenactment of the original show of the same name where the entire family can marvel at their trick roping, trick riding, and trick shooting skills and top of the experience with cowboy songs. GrapeVine SummerBlast Friday Lake Grapevine https://www.grapevinetexasusa.com/events/summerblast/ Starting Memorial Day weekend and running through Labor Day weekend, Grapevine hosts fireworks every Friday night.
