DFW Among Hottest Markets for Millennials and Gen-Xers
Many things differentiate millennials and Gen X. But there's one surprising thing they agree on. Of the 10 hottest markets, millennials and Gen Xers overlap on four. Three of them are Texas cities including Austin, Dallas, and Houston.
What Draws Millennials to DFW
Realtor.com reports that millennials favor big cities like Dallas because they want a thriving nightlife, rich culture, and eateries that make great Instagram updates. The job market in these cities is flourishing and they can command higher salaries. Millennial homebuyers seek places where they can land jobs and enjoy themselves outside of work.
"Where Do Millennials Want to Live? Dallas Tops Other Texas Cities" says that millennials choose to move to Dallas for a new job or lifestyle. Data confirms that Dallas-Fort Worth has an abundance of jobs as the area created almost 120,000 new jobs in 2016. Plus, Dallas is a tech hub.
Brookings Institute reports that millennials are the most diverse generation. You'll find lots of diversity in Dallas-Fort Worth with more than 200 towns spread throughout the region where 230 languages are spoken.
DFW Also Attracts Gen X
Gen X, on the other hand, wants affordable housing, warmer weather, and a business-friendly environment according to Realtor.com. With large companies like Toyota relocating to the Dallas area, it opens up more opportunities. Gen Xers like master-planned communities. New homes in DFW with master-planned communities up the ante in the amenities they provide.
For example, Chisholm Trail Ranch in Fort Worth will have hike and bike trails, swimming pools, soccer fields, and a covered outdoor living room with a fireplace. Residents will live next door to Chisholm Trail Community Park and Community Center for the skate park, gym, exercise classes, pier, walking trails, and a playground.
