With high caliber museums, zoo, and entertainment venues, it's not hard to find things to do in Fort Worth. But sometimes we overlook the obvious or don't know about it. One of those places is the Fort Worth Stockyards Championship Rodeo. In fact, PopSugar included it in its list of top unique late-night spots around the world worth checking out.
Most people think they can only catch the live action rodeo during the Fat Stock Show and Rodeo in January. According to Stockyards Rodeo's official site, it's the world's only year-round rodeo. That's right, live action rodeo every Friday and Saturday night. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the competition runs from 8 to 10 pm.
Here are 5 more things to do to make a day of it at the Fort Worth Stockyards.
- Discover the competitive sport of rodeo
The cowboys don't go riding and roping for the fun of it. It's a competition that takes practice and skills. Most events fall in one of two categories: timed and rough stock. Timed events include barrel racing, tie-down roping, and rough stock events like bull, bronco, and bareback riding. The rodeo is sanctioned by the United Professional Rodeo Association (URPA) and International Professional Rodeo Association (IRPA).
- Check the calendars for upcoming events
You can watch an authentic
cattle drive twice a day at 11:30 am and 4pm on Exchange Ave. in front of the Fort Worth Livestock Exchange Building. You can head back to the holding pens to view the steers.

You won't go hungry while watching the rodeo. The Arena sells BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, popcorn, candy, soda, and beer. Or you can step out and head to Riscky's BBQ, Trailboss Burgers, or these other
restaurants in the Stockyards district.
