5 Home Design Trends for Fall

One good thing has come out of the recent heavy rains in DFW. Cooler weather. Now it finally feels like fall. Sure, Pumpkin Spice Latte has a fall air about it. But drinking the delicious coffee in 90-degree weather did not quite scream fall. Want your home to feel like autumn? Here are five home design trends to bring the latest season inside.
  1. Colors: Navy, Pinks, Gold, and Jet Black
Navy goes with many things and works well in rooms because of its soothing attitude and it'll fit right in with winter. It pairs beautifully with gold, a fabulous year-round color that brings a burst of energy to any room. Every shade of pink is making a comeback as each one brings a different level of warmth and energy to a room. You could pair multiple shades of pinks to create a cohesive setting that mixes bold and mellow. Black goes with everything and brings a monochrome room to life. Painting one wall or furniture with jet black can enhance a room's look and highlight other colors.
  1. Florals
Oversized florals on the walls, bedding, and cushions enrich a room. Let the florals be the star by pairing them with simple colors and designs. Another route to try is to spice up the room with faux florals. Just adding a non-traditional faux floral arrangement can refresh a room. And you won't have to worry about keeping them watered.
  1. Bright Shapes
With fall and winter showing less sun, what a better way to brighten the place than with vivid shapes? A colorful pillow or two with geometrical patterns will make a bed, chair, or sofa pop. Change out a bedspread or duvet with something containing vibrant blocks, stripes, or spots. Hang up a picture with abstract shapes that are either multicolored or different shades of a single color.
  1. Modern Neutrals
Think simple, clean Scandinavian design meets gentle wood colors. Get the look with natural wood with soft textures or patterns on tables, chairs, or lamps. Or add a rug with a large-scale pattern consisting of earth tones. Search for items with mellow neutral colors that bring a sense of calm to a room.
  1. Artisan
Artisan décor are one-of-a-kind items containing some handmade detail or the entire decoration could be handmade. If you prefer the modern look, browse for neutral-colored artisan items. For a folk-inspired look, pair brighter colors with different textures. You don't have to remodel an entire room to bring autumn inside. Shopping for accessories based on these five trends or painting one thing can give a room a fresh appearance and make it feel like fall.
