Candy and costumes. Who doesn't love Halloween? The fun can keep right on going beyond trick-or-treating. DFW residents have a choice of many Halloween events in Fort Worth and nearby. Even adults will enjoy themselves. Autumn at the Arboretum 8525 Garland Rd., Dallas Sep. 23 – Nov 22, 9 am – 5pm www.dallasarboretum.org This giant pumpkin festival is a spectacular show of colors with thousands of flowers, blooming plants, pumpkins, squash, and gourds. Every year features a theme. This year's is "The Wonderful World of Oz." Boo at the Zoo 1989 Colonial Pkwy., Fort Worth Oct. 27 – 29, 10 am – 5 pm www.fortworthzoo.org The zoo's annual daytime Halloween event features treat stations, carnival games, and animal shows. Treat stations and carnival games require a treat coupon. Zoo guests will receive six treat coupons per admission. Extras are available for purchase. Boo Bash at Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center 5801 W. Parker Rd, Plano Oct. 26, 4 – 9 pm www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPXqnMswRL8 Accompanied by their parents, children 12 and under come dressed in costume and bring a treat bag for an entertaining night of candy and carnival games. Bring a canned food item to be donated to a local food bank. Dia de los Muertos Festival 1440 N. Main St., Fort Worth Oct. 27 (6 – 9:30 pm) and Oct. 28 (5:30 – 10 pm) This annual event honors, celebrates, and remembers the lives of past loved ones at Rose Marine Theater. Attendees can check out the art exhibition, view "Dia de Los Muertos" short films, and attend the "Book of Life" movie screening. There will also be other films, arts and crafts, games, foods, face painting, and live entertainment. Fall Festival in the Japanese Garden at Fort Worth Botanic Gardens 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd., Fort Worth Oct. 28 – Oct. 29, 10 am – 5 pm www.fwbg.org Experience traditional Japanese dance, music, martial arts, tea ceremonies, sword demonstrations, and raku. Discover an old-time string band, embroidery, rug hooking, folk songs and stories, and more. Halloween Glowga at Karmany Yoga 2735 S. Hulen St., Fort Worth Oct. 31, 7:30 pm www.karmanyyoga.com Bring your yoga mat for an evening of Halloween Glowga in a black-light-illuminated studio. Do downward dog and child's poses to a playlist of Halloween tunes. The studio will provide glow paint and glow sticks for added merriment. There are also dog, pumpkin decorating, and children's costume contests. Pumpkin Splash The Keller Pointe, 405 Rufe Snow Dr., Keller Oct. 20, 6 – 8 pm www.cityofkeller.com/visit-play/special-events This combines two popular activities: swimming and pumpkin patch. Kids ages 12 and younger can splash around the indoor pool and pick a pumpkin from the floating patch — yes, floating pumpkins! — to take home. Treat Street at Fort Worth Stock Yards Station 140 East Exchange Ave., Fort Worth Oct. 31, 5 – 7 pm www.stockyardsstation.com For two delightful hours, the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards turns into Treat Street. Kids can go trick-or-treating, decorate pumpkins, enjoy hay rides, and watch a Halloween show. Children ages 12 and under who wear a costume can venture through the Cowtown Cattlepen Maze.
