Welcome to Waxahachie
With breathtaking pink crape myrtles lining the quiet streets downtown and lively festivals throughout the year, Waxahachie is an idyllic destination for families in North Texas. It is also the location of Sandlin Homes’ newest community, Sheppard’s Place.
Sheppard’s Place will offer single-family homes with three and four bedrooms starting at 2,088 square feet. Prices will range from the low to mid-$300s.
Why WaxahachieLocated just 30 minutes south of Dallas, Waxahachie keeps you close to the conveniences of the DFW metro with a little distance from the hustle and bustle.
The city is growing slowly, yet steadily with just more than 37,000 residents. However, it has stayed true to its close-knit roots with year-round attractions and festivals that bring locals together.
This busy schedule starts in the spring with the Crossroads of Texas Film and Music Festival in April, then continues through the summer with a Gingerbread Trail Home Tour in June, Rotary Cow Creek Country Classic Bike Ride and Crape Myrtle Festival. The Texas Country Reporter Festival follows in October and a World War II Reenactment recognizes Veteran’s Day. Waxahachie is especially spirited toward the end of the year with a Parade of Lights, Candlelight Tour of Homes and Bethlehem Revisited.
The gorgeous 656-acre Lake Waxahachie sits just south of town and offers eye-catching scenery along with great fishing opportunities for channel catfish, white crappie or white bass. Families looking for a little bit more activity can swim and kayak too. On your way, consider a stop at the Waxahachie Downtown Farmer’s Market for some healthy or savory treats made by your neighbors. The market is held on Saturday mornings from April to October.
The city also boasts the top-ranked school district in Ellis County according to Niche.com, Waxahachie Independent School District. Sheppard’s Place residents attend Wedgeworth Elementary, Coleman Junior High and Waxahachie High School. All three received a B-plus or higher in the overall rankings with an average student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1.
