The Lighthouse ArtSpace in downtown Dallas is a spot that you will be able to continue visiting without ever getting tired of the experience, and on the especially warm summer days of Texas, sometimes it’s best to find a few indoor activities to partake in. The space provides immersive art exhibits that feature world renowned artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo and Claude Monet beginning in July of this year. With floor-to-ceiling projections throughout each open space, the exhibits will transport you into another world entirely—sit back, relax and enjoy the experience. 

Stay active

While the city scene is incredibly popular throughout the DFW area—the location also has stunning local hiking routes that you won’t want to miss out on this summer. From short hikes perfect for a lunchtime stroll to longer hikes of greater difficulty to challenge yourself on a weekend outing—the area surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth has just the trail for you. 

For a great beginner walk—Spring Creek Forest Preserve Trail is just over one mile long and offers hikers a stunning scenic route that you can easily enjoy. If you’re ready to go all in, Oak Cliff Nature Preserve ups the difficulty level just a bit for a moderate 6.5 mile loop through a forest that looks as if it came right out of a fairytale. In the heart of Dallas, Katy Trail is another great path to look into, as it offers the perfect atmosphere for a casual stroll through the city.

While Dallas-Fort Worth offers the ideal location for adults to get their fill of a number of events, the area also boasts plenty of family-friendly activities that the kids are sure to love this summer. 

When school has once again been put on pause, there’s nothing quite better in the summer months than spending an entire day running around a waterpark. The Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark at Grand Prairie can be visited year-round, but when the summer months roll around, the outdoor wave pool returns once more for a fun day in the sun. The Great Wolf Lodge Waterpark is another popular stop for a weekend getaway, and the indoor waterpark is sure to keep the kids entertained for hours. If you’re hoping to enjoy the fresh air, however, make sure you stop by Hurricane Harbor Arlington. As the largest waterpark in North Texas, the spot boasts a 50 acre lot with an incredible variety of rides to explore and a 1-million-gallon wave pool that you’ll definitely want to check out.  

Adventure parks are another must-add to any summer calendar for the kids and Six Flags over Texas in the city of Arlington is more than up to the task of creating the ideal summer day for everyone. A 212-acre amusement park with incredible rides that are perfect for any thrill seeker in the family—you won’t want to miss out on the opportunity to spend the day at Six Flags. 

While ice skating doesn’t seem like a summer event—maybe that’s the exact reason why it’s the best one to do. At the Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Center, ice skating is available year round and offers a great way to stay cool and active while keeping cool on a warm summer day.
