Top 10 Reasons to Move to Texas

In recent years, Texas has consistently landed in different top 10 lists of states that Americans are moving to -- and for good reason. Between the beautiful open country and friendly locals, it’s hard to come up with a reason not to love the Lone Star State. But if you’re still on the fence about the big move, here are a 10 great reasons that you might want to consider.
  1. Plenty of jobs available. With the state’s gas and oil boom, Texas has quickly become one of the strongest economic juggernauts in the nation, if not the world. In particular, the Texas Miracle has greatly benefited the cities of Dallas and Houston. What’s even better is that gas and oil is only the beginning. The growth has also strengthened other major economic players, such as the manufacturing, business, and tech services.
  1. Lower cost of living. Once you get a good job, your main focus should now be to stretch your paycheck as much as possible. Fortunately, moving to Texas will help you do just that. While Texas may not have as many high-paying jobs as Los Angeles, San Francisco or New York, it all evens out in the end once you factor in the cost of living. Food, rent, utilities, health care, transportation costs -- you name it and chances are that it costs less in Texas.
  1. Lower taxes. As if the lower cost of living wasn’t enough, the state also offers residents a lighter tax burden. Texas is one of the very few states that do not levy a personal income tax. Instead, the state receives most of its income from sales and property taxes. So, you may also want to take that into consideration if you’re planning to purchase a new home. Nevertheless, the overall tax burden is still much lighter than other states.
  1. Cheaper land. Speaking of purchasing a new home, real estate prices in Texas are actually cheaper as compared to other states. What’s even better is that the state laws on land acquisition and building regulation are less strict. This gives interested buyers even more incentive to purchase their own little piece of Texas.
5. Friendly neighbors. Texans take pride in being hospitable, friendly, and polite. If you’re not used to                    strangers being so neighborly, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the number of howdys, hellos, and                  friendly waves you’ll receive on a daily basis. `
