Organizing and de-cluttering your house can make a world of a difference to your state of mind, your mood. Coming back to a home that is clean, tidy, and organized makes anyone feel better, almost immediately. However, with the hectic schedules most people have these days, finding the time to organize your house is not easy. In this article, you will find tips to get your house organized efficiently, effectively, and in the minimum time possible. Lists help tremendously with time management. If you find yourself short on time, create a list of tasks you want to complete around the house and then tackle these tasks one by one. This will not only make it easier for you to get your house organized but it will also help not make the task seem too gigantic. Many times, the reason we do not get our organizing done is because it seems too daunting a task. Break each task down into its smallest possible element. For example, instead of organize the kid’s room start with a simpler element of the larger task, like organize the girls’ closet.  This will help you organize your house without feeling intimidated.
  1. Make your bed and clean your room daily before leaving the house. This will ensure you come back to a clean room daily. You can do so by simply making the bed, putting away the dirty laundry and putting everything in its place before leaving the home. If you do this daily, it will soon become a habit and your room will always be clean. There’s a reason this was the top of your parents’ list of chores.
  2. Second, when you come home, put away your shoes in the closet as well as your briefcase and coat. This will also help take care of the excess clutter. Make sure every member in your family practices this as well. Habits of organization start with simple repetition of common tasks.
  3. After breakfast, make sure you clear the table and wash the dishes immediately. This will leave your kitchen looking clean all the time. If you have a partner or roommate, divide the tasks with them so you don’t have to take care of everything.
  4. If you have kids at home, teach them to put away their toys after they are done playing. Additionally, you should ask them to play in one room of the house so that they don’t create clutter and mess up every room, at the very least – one room at a time.
  5. Take care of one drawer, cabinet or closet on every Saturday and Sunday so that by the end of the month, most of the clutter will be taken care of and your closets, cabinets and drawers will all be organized.
The secret to a clean house lies in creating daily habits of organization. If you take care of your chores on a daily basis, they won’t pile on and daunt you at the end of the week. With our busy lives, all we want to do at the end of a week is to rest, and having a clean and well-organized home reduces stress and frees up time.
