How to Spring Up your Homes curb Appeal

Winter is finally over and it is time to put away the holly and ivy and pull out the flip-flops and umbrellas. Spring is here which means summer is not far away. It does not matter if you plan to sell your property or just want to enjoy a better view as you return home from work each day, a little curb appeal goes a long way. Here are some tips to help you spring out of winter and into a sunnier time. Adorn your front door. Your front door is the first thing people see when they walk up to your home. Make your front door the focal point. Add a new door knocker. Throw a coat of teal paint on the door. And do not forget to add a grapevine wreath with popular spring flowers like tulips and daffodils with a brightly colored bow to add a touch of cheer. Add plants along the curb. Why should all your plants cluster down the side of your home’s front porch? Planting some flowering perennials and annuals along the curb not only springs up the look of your curb, but it can help deter people from walking through your yard. Plants along the curb encourage folks to stick with the sidewalk and pathways across the lawn instead. Make your house numbers more visible. Drive down the street toward your home. When can you see the house numbers? Can you see them if you stand across the street and look at your home? Making the house numbers more visible serves two purposes. First it improves the look of your home. Secondly it is a safety feature, because it will help emergency services locate your home quickly in case you ever need to call them for assistance. Cluster flower pots on the porch. And do not put flowers in every pot. Use three pots of assorted sizes, for example and plant annuals in one, perennials in another, and a vegetable like cherry tomatoes or baby spinach in the third. This will lend a fresh look to your home while improving the ingredients of your meals at the same time. Update the garage and driveway. Now that winter is gone, repair any cracks in the driveway. If your garage needs it, then repair any exterior lights or replace them with solar versions as an added safety bonus. Do not forget to add some flower boxes under the windows of your garage to match the ones on your home. Finally make sure you give your home a good power washing to rinse off the grime of winter. Once that is done, put down fresh mulch around all the trees and in the flower beds around your home. This will help cut down on weeds and give your lawn a manicured look that will be the envy of all your neighbors.
