In 1957, Dwight D. Eisenhower was president. Texas’ Sam Rayburn was the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Jukeboxes played Elvis Pressley’s “All Shook Up” and Guy Mitchell’s “Singing the Blues.” West Side Story and The Music Man opened on Broadway. The Bridge on the River Kwai and 12 Angry Men played in movie theaters.
And it was in 1957 when J.B. Sandlin started Sandlin Homes to build new homes in Dallas-Fort Worth.
What a long way we’ve come in more than a half a century! For six decades, we’ve strived to build homes that people could look forward to eating many meals on their dining tables, sleeping in a comforting room, doing their favorite activities in the backyard, and feeling right at home every single day.
While many things have changed in 60 years — cars, technology, music, homes, and employees — one thing has not changed at Sandlin Homes: family values remains the foundation of our business. The second generation — J.B.’s three sons and a son-in-law — manage the family-owned and operated business.
While our philosophy hasn’t changed, one thing we do change is that we work to design innovative homes that reflect homeowners’ current needs and wants. We’ve been fortunate to receive accolades for our work, community involvement, and ethics.
Since 1971, we’ve received the following awards:
- Greater Fort Worth Association of Builders “Builder of the Year” in 1971, 1990, 2000, and 2002
- “Developer of the Year” in 2003 and 2004
- B. Sandlin inducted in the Texas Housing Hall of Honor in 2008
- Texas Association of Builders “Builder of the Year” in 2010
- Greater Fort Worth Builders Association “Building of the Year Award” in 2014
Every year, we build over 200 new homes in Dallas-Fort Worth in more than 15 thriving communities. We credit our longevity to value engineering, which allows us to do what works well and staying ahead of homebuilding and interior design trends.
We don’t simply build homes. We also connect with the cities we serve. North Richland Hills has recently proclaimed “Sandlin Homes Day” on March 20. We’re grateful for their generosity.
As a DFW home builder, there’s nothing more exciting than welcoming a family into their new home. We look forward to handing the keys over to many more families for decades to come.
